Last year, The Rock stole the spotlight during WWE WrestleMania season, and many fans feared that he would take Cody Rhodes’s spot to face Roman Reigns for the world championship, because after Cody lost the title in heartbreaking fashion to the Tribal Chief in 2023, the assumption was that he’d get his revenge in 2024.
Cody eventually did, and while that was the right call, there were others who understood The Rock’s argument that he, WWE, and Roman had planned a title match between the two cousins for years when Roman’s new character was first forged.
Now that the dust has settled, everyone wants to know what The Rock’s role will be at WWE WrestleMania 41 and if he will have a match of his own, whether against Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, or, most likely, Roman Reigns.
The Rock isn’t currently scheduled for a match at WWE WrestleMania 41
The short answer is, nobody really knows. Sportskeeda’s Chris Featherstone first reported that WWE is proceeding with their WrestleMania 41 planning under the impression that The Rock will not be at the Show of Shows this year but will change their plans accordingly if he is available.
Fightful boss Sean Ross Sapp corroborated the report, adding that this has been the case for “quite a while”.
Meanwhile, Dave Meltzer wrote in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there is a belief internally that The Rock will partake in WrestleMania 41.
The Rock appeared at the episode of Raw on Netflix for the Ula Fala ceremony after Roman Reigns successfully defeated Solo Sikoa, and he was also on the episode of NXT’s New Year’s Evil.
He buried the hatchet with Cody Rhodes but seemed to tease a possible involvement at WrestleMania 41, casting a long shadow over Reigns, whom he wanted to face in the main event last year.
So stay tuned, because, as with anything dealing with The Rock, it is all up in the air based on his schedule and Hollywood contracts. But regardless of how things shook out last year, there is clearly still interest from wrestling fans in a Rock vs. Roman showdown on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
