The renewed Jinder Mahal push keeps on rolling

Jinder Mahal has been getting a real push in WWE lately. Ever since he was used as the counterweight to The Rock’s return as the “former world champion” ruse, he’s been getting plenty of plaudits from fans.

In many ways, Mahal stole the show from The Rock, bringing up some very sharp points about the hypocritical and, quite frankly, racist nature of how wrestling fans view Jinder, even in the arena and ironically in that segment, too.

He then received a one-on-one title match with Seth Rollins, defending himself on social media from a bizarre tweet from AEW CEO Tony Khan about wins and losses.

Mahal, a former world champion, has much more charisma and talent than the majority of wrestlers Khan is touting on his program, which the former Three Man Band member proved in his response.

Jinder Mahal is starting to look like an actual world champion

Now, WWE appears to be getting even more behind the vastly improved former SmackDown champion, and he finally does have a big win to boast about. So take that Tony.

At a recent live event, Mahal defeated Ricochet. Maybe that’s not saying too much since Ricochet is often taking losses in WWE, but it’s a step in the right direction for a wrestler who has been impressing of late.

WWE pushed Mahal out of nowhere years ago to get into the India market, but, now, he actually looks like a legitimate world champion. Even at that time, he improved during his reign and was passable; we’ve seen worse world champions for sure.

It will be exciting to see what the remainder of 2024 holds for Mahal, if his recent work with two big stars in The Rock and Rollins is anything to go off of.

Mahal is more than passable in the ring and legitimately great on the mic, even if he only gets a fraction of the credit he deserves in that regard.
