Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns are the most inextricably linked wrestlers in WWE today. Their past is intertwined through The Shield and so many head to head battles, and while Roman is the one who truly ascended to the summit of this sport, in head to head battle, Rollins usually seemed to have The Tribal Chief’s number.
Due to injury, Rollins will not be competing at WWE WrestleMania 42 this year, but Reigns will, going after the world title on Monday Night Raw and its new champion CM Punk – another pro wrestler with bitterly bad blood with The Architect.
The spats between Punk and Rollins are more recent and arguably just as personal. WWE have been keeping Rollins’s recovery under wraps, but there is an unspoken feeling within the WWE fan base that Rollins will not be left out of the WrestleMania festivities in Las Vegas this year.
Watching Reigns and Punk spar verbally back and forth in the best Raw segment of the year – and it’s honestly not even close thus far – it was clear to many that Seth Rollins, with his history between the two, will be a factor when these wrestling titans ultimately clash at the Show of Shows.
And while Rollins could easily stab Roman in the back yet again, it feels like Roman’s destiny lies in Seth’s hands in a positive way this time, as Seth still has one last bit of unfinished business with CM Punk.
Rollins already cost Punk the title once with the Greatest Ruse of the Century, and maybe he can pull off another memorable ruse, greater than the earlier one on Punk, at WrestleMania 42 just as he pulled off The Greatest Heist more than 10 years ago.
Whatever the case may be, Rollins is going to have a lot to say to tip the balance between Roman Reigns and CM Punk at WrestleMania this year, just as he did last year when the three legends of the present fought in a Triple Threat at ‘Mania 41 for the right to be Paul Heyman’s puppet.
