LA Knight is someone WWE fans have been waiting a long time to get pushed, and, frustratingly, whenever he has had a ground swell of support from the crowd and the hint of a move from the upper mid card into the true main event scene, WWE have pulled the rug out from underneath him.
It has always felt like to the fans that there is an unspoken level of dislike from Triple H towards the Knight character, not believing in him as an “A” player and instead seeing him as a “B” list superstar in WWE.
Well, WWE fans have not given up on Knight, and as he is headed for a huge clash with The Vision’s leader Bron Breakker on the Road to WrestleMania 42, the crowd is giving LA Knight quite the raucous reception.
On the most recent episode of Raw after the Royal Rumble in which Knight and Breakker went at it, Knight could be seen wearing a red T-Shirt emblazoned with the word “Unchosen”.
It did not take long for WWE fans to notice and discuss the meaning of the shirt, and LA Knight is not one known for subtleties or coincidences. He is one of the sharpest and most experienced minds in professional wrestling today, so a shirt like that definitely had a purpose.
Knight does feel like the opposite of Vince McMahon to Drew McIntyre, in the sense that he is Triple H’s “Unchosen One”. He is the one the fans want and who are entertained by on the mic and in the ring, and yet, for whatever reason, The Cerebral Assassin sees him as being just a step below that level the fans want to see him at.
The only thing Knight can do is plant seeds like this that get fans talking and on his side while delivering his absolute best performances week in and week out on the mic and in the ring. He has no margin for error.
