Jade Cargill to WWE Rumors: Latest updates and analysis

Jade Cargill has been one of the most dominant wrestlers in AEW, and while the promotion could have done even more to make her an attraction on Friday nights, her undefeated streak and reign as TBS Champion should forever live in history.

Now, after a hiatus from wrestling, it seems as if Cargill, whose future may be destined for the silver screen, will be embarking on a new challenge in wrestling. After rejecting an overture from WWE in the past to be a part of NXT, Cargill may be headed to the biggest wrestling promotion in the world.

Sean Ross Sapp first reported on Fightful Select that people within both AEW and WWE believe Jade Cargill will be heading to WWE and that her recent match against Kris Statlander was her last with the company.

Then, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there are people in WWE who expect Cargill to go straight to the main roster and bypass NXT. That doesn’t seem to be set in stone, but rather information relayed by sources close to Meltzer within the company.

It would be a massive addition for WWE to sign a wrestler with Cargill’s charisma and talent. She is a commanding presence on the mic and knows how to carry herself like a star. Her style as a performer suits WWE well, in terms of what they look for from their “superstars”.

Based on her work in AEW and the buzz she generated from fans, she can be an immediate asset and reach more people on Raw and/or SmackDown. NXT has become more of a developmental brand, with wrestlers like Becky Lynch and the Judgment Day crossing over to “help”. Cargill should be presented as massively as possible, which means a trip straight to Raw or SmackDown makes the most sense for her and WWE.

WWE have big plans for Cargill on the main roster

PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson reports that Cargill is expected to report to the WWE Performance Center within a week of Sept. 17. Her contract with AEW has reportedly expired.

Dave Meltzer added on a recent episode of WOR that WWE will have big plans for Cargill, as her contract will pay her much more than what most new signings in the Women’s Division make. (Side note: WWE should pay women’s wrestlers substantially more.) He added that the company is already working on creative ideas for her.

Perhaps the ball is moving so quickly because, as Mike Johnson reports, Cargill is already in Orlando. However, fans wondering about her future as a Raw/SmackDown or NXT wrestler will also be interested in knowing that, per Johnson, she is not expected to be on the Sept. 19 episode of NXT. Stay tuned.

In a later update, Meltzer added on WOR that the big creative plans for Cargill involve the WWE main roster, furthering the notion that she will immediately be a major player on Raw or SmackDown.
