WWE superstar Sami Zayn has been a fan favorite for years, and he is one of the most succesful upper mid carders in the history of the company, joining the likes of The Miz and Dolph Ziggler as recent titans of the Intercontinental Championship seen who can make any match of segment must see.
Zayn proved unequivocally that he is one of the most talented wrestlers in the company and a slam dunk world champion with his quality of work in the Bloodline storyline with Roman Reigns, even upstaging the most successful modern day wrestling champion.
But WWE never rewarded Zayn with a run at the world title despite his obvious excellence and the fact that wrestling fans around the world were behind Sami Uso more than anyone else on the roster.
Zayn is one of those guys always content to help out and do his best, and, like Ziggler, he has become saddled with the identity of being a “good hand” who can sell any segment and even make a guy like Johnny Knoxville look GOATed.
Well, Zayn is finally starting to speak up for himself, because according to a report from the Wrestling Observer News, he actually started to push pretty hard back stage to take down Drew McIntyre one on one at the Royal Rumble in the world title match.
Obviously, Zayn did not win it, and Triple H was never going to put Zayn over, especially when so much is riding on Drew heading into WrestleMania 42 after he just dethroned the company’s new John Cena, Cody Rhodes, after a long standing feud.
This was not Zayn’s battle to win, but it is great to hear that he is advocating for himself back stage. Because maybe, just maybe, under more sensible circumstances, the answer from “Papa H” will be a “yes” to his former top star in NXT.
