WWE Elimination Chamber 2025 will take place on March 1, 2025 in Toronto, Canada, marking the first time the Premium Live Event (PLE) will take place in this month.
Usually, the Elimination Chamber takes place in February, one month after Royal Rumble in the last week of January, but since the Rumble is on Feb. 1 this year, the EC start time is relatively delayed.
Since 2010 when it became a regular PPV offering by WWE, Elimination Chamber has traditionally pitted six opponents against each other, with the winner of the match getting a shot at the title at WrestleMania or winning the title directly inside the Chamber ahead of WrestleMania.
In 2018, the Elimination Chamber show finally had a women’s chamber match, adding further importance to the Pay Per View as a whole and entrenching it as a key potential cause of twists on the road to WrestleMania.
So as we prepare for 2025’s iteration of the Elimination Chamber, let’s take a look back at every single winner, every current champion at that time, and the future champion that resulted after WrestleMania.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2010
At WWE Elimination Chamber 2010, there were two Elimination Chamber matches, one for each brand.
Sheamus entered the match as WWE Champion but lost it to John Cena, who submitted Triple H with the STF to take the title. However, his celebration was short-lived, as Vince McMahon appeared and forced Cena to battle Batista in an impromptu match, with The Animal quickly disposing of the Leader of Cenation.
Meanwhile, on the SmackDown side of things, The Undertaker entered the Elimination Chamber match as World Heavyweight Champion but lost the title to Chris Jericho.
John Cena would get the last laugh in the end, as he would win the title back from Batista at WrestleMania 26. Jericho retained his title won inside the Chamber by beating Royal Rumble winner Edge at the Show of Shows.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2011
Edge came into WWE Elimination Chamber 2011 and exited the Chamber still the World Heavyweight Champion on the SmackDown side by pinning both Kane and Rey Mysterio.
Raw’s world champion didn’t but his title on the line, but there was a Chamber match, with John Cena winning again, pinning CM Punk to give himself a shot at the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 27. The Champion? None other than The Miz, who retained his title against, cough, Jerry Lawler at this PPV.
Edge would emerge victorious at WrestleMania 27 against Alberto Del Rio to retain his title, while Cena would fall short, losing to The Miz, thanks to an assist from The Rock, that set up two WrestleMania matches between Cena and The Rock and a lifetime of bragging rights on the part of Mr. Mizanin.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2012
After John Cena stole a victory from him the previous year, CM Punk would get his chance to bask in glory at the Elimination Chamber in 2012, coming in as WWE Champion and exiting the same, pinning R-Truth at the start and The Miz at the finish.
The World Heavyweight Champion at WWE Elimination Chamber 2012 was none other than Daniel Bryan, who also retained his title. His record in the Chamber was a little less impressive, as he only had to pin Santino Marella in a bizarre field of competitors that also included the Great Khali and the Big Show.
After their feud played a huge role in the Elimination Chamber, CM Punk and Chris Jericho squared off at WrestleMania 28 in a match that was clearly superior to the ballyhooed main event between The Rock and John Cena, with Punk taking down Y2J.
Daniel Bryan’s World Heavyweight Championship match at the Show of Shows was far less successful, as he lost his title in a mere 18 seconds to Sheamus in what is still the most infamous world title match in ‘Mania history.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2013
There was only one Elimination Chamber match at the 2023 Pay Per View, and it didn’t put the title on the line. And even though the match contained five future Hall of Famers, it was Jack Swagger, one of the worst champions in WWE history, who took home the honors on this day.
Swagger stole Randy Orton’s and Mark Henry’s thunder by pinning The Viper to become the new No. 1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, which he would lose in a match at WrestleMania 29 to Alberto Del Rio in what can only be described as one of the least tantalizing world title bouts in WrestleMania history.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2014
At WWE Elimination Chamber 2014, Randy Orton successfully retained the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of the show, pinning rivals John Cena and Daniel Bryan in the process.
Orton would then drop the title in the main event of WrestleMania 30 to Bryan – with Batista as the third wheel in the match – to cap off one of the greatest stories in WrestleMania history.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2015
This was the weirdest Elimination Chamber PPV, because it took place after WrestleMania season in May, which has, thankfully, never been the case since.
So for the first time ever, WWE Elimination Chamber 2015 featured tag teams competing inside the chamber, as The New Day put their tag titles on the line and took down the Prime Time Players, Titus O’Neil and Darren Young, to retain them.
The other Chamber match didn’t feature a world title either, and it was the first and only time the Intercontinental Championship was on the line inside the Elimination Chamber. Ryback would win the match and the vacated IC Title in the process.
At least one good thing came out of all this. The New Day’s signature win inside the Elimination Chamber helped propel them to a record-breaking, 483-day run with the titles until Cesaro and Sheamus took them at the Roadblock PPV in December 2016.
As for Ryback’s IC Title reign, his first ever title in WWE ended after 112 days with Kevin Owens raking his eyes to win his first singles title on the main roster.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2017
After the stench of the 2015 Elimination Chamber PPV, WWE didn’t air the event in 2016 before bringing it back with the new brand split in 2017 to a very positive audience reception – and a much better overall show in 2017.
A SmackDown-only branded Pay Per View event, John Cena entered the match as WWE World Champion but lost to underdog Bray Wyatt in one of the greatest victories in Elimination Chamber history.
Sadly, Wyatt would lose the title to Randy Orton, the Royal Rumble winner, at WrestleMania 33, lose his title defense in a bizarre House of Horrors match, and get evicted from the main title scene in favor of “breakout star” Jinder Mahal.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2018
Whereas the 2017 iteration of the Elimination Chamber PPV was a SmackDown-exclusive event, 2018 switched things over to the Raw side and also switched things up in a different way with the first ever Women’s Elimination Chamber event.
The big story from the match was Sasha Banks betraying Bayley by pushing her off the top of the pod, sowing the seeds for a future rivalry that would renew one of the greatest modern wrestling feuds rooted back in NXT.
But in the end, it wasn’t Sasha or Bayley who won the first ever Women’s Elimination Chamber match, and that honor will always belong to Alexa Bliss, who retained the Raw Women’s Championship by pinning both friends.
Over on the men’s side, Roman Reigns added another big win to his resumé, defeating a dominant Braun Strowman inside the Elimination Chamber to punch his ticket to New Orleans, where a hungry Beast awaited him at WrestleMania 34.
In the end, neither Bliss nor Reigns were victorious at WrestleMania 34. Roman got pummeled in a brutally awful main event by Brock Lesnar, while Bliss dropped the Raw Women’s Title to first-time champion Nia Jax, who got a feel-good win out of an uncomfortable bullying storyline.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2019
The new tradition of Women’s Elimination Chamber matches continued but with a new historic twist, as fans witnessed the first ever Women’s Tag Team Elimination Chamber match to decide the first ever Women’s Tag Team Champions.
And a year after the betrayal inside the Chamber, the Boss’N’Hug Connection of Sasha Banks and Bayley teamed up to take home the titles.
Over on the men’s side, Daniel Bryan, the Planet’s Champion, retained his WWE Championship inside the Chamber, pinning Kofi Kingston last to maintain his spot at WrestleMania.
But Kofi proved to be the real star of the night, and his incredible Chamber performance inspired crowds to push for him even harder as the first African-born WWE Champion, and he would go on to beat Bryan in one of the greatest and most meaningful WrestleMania matches in history.
Meanwhile, Sasha and Bayley’s reign as tag champs was far too short-lived, as they were booked poorly by a company clearly uninvested in women’s wrestling and dropped the titles to the IIconics in a Fatal Four-Way at WrestleMania. A frustrated and burned-out Banks ended up taking a break from wrestling as a result of the mismanaged booking.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2020
The zaniest of having tag team wrestling inside the Elimination Chamber continued in 2020, as The Miz and John Morrison somehow escaped with their SmackDown Tag Team Titles in hand by defeating both The New Day and The Usos inside the hellacious structure.
In the Women’s Elimination Chamber match, Shayna Baszler ran roughshod over the entire Women’s Division, submitting five other wrestlers, including the entire Riott Squad, to earn a Raw Women’s Title match against WrestleMania main event hero Becky Lynch at 2020’s Show of Shows.
Morrison competed at WrestleMania 36 to retain the Tag Team Titles on behalf of his team by defeating Jimmy Uso and Kofi Kingston in a crowd-pleasing Ladders Match.
Also on Night One, Becky Lynch unsurprisingly took down the vampirish Baszler to retain her Raw Women’s Title with another significant WrestleMania “W”.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2021
The only Elimination Chamber of the Thunderdome era during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, WWE Elimination Chamber 2021 continued the trend of having two Chamber matches.
Daniel Bryan won the SmackDown bout by pinning Roman Reigns’s cousin Jey Uso, putting the ball in his court for a title match with the impossibly dominant Tribal Chief at WrestleMania 37.
Over on Raw, Drew McIntyre retained his WWE Championship, but he would end up losing the title immediately after via cash-in, as Bobby Lashley helped The Miz take the title away.
The Miz, of course, dropped the title to Lashley shortly after on Mar. 1 for the leader of the Hurt Business’s first world title win in WWE, and Lashley would go on to successfully retain the title against McIntyre at WrestleMania.
Bryan would face Reigns and Edge in the main vent of WrestleMania, with Roman humiliating both WWE legends by stacking them on top of each other for his first successful WrestleMania title defense as the Tribal Chief.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2022
WWE Elimination Chamber 2022 took place in Saudi Arabia. Bianca Belair won the Women’s Chamber match to earn a Raw Women’s Title bout against Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 38.
The men’s match was a lot less straightforward. Bobby Lashley came into the match as WWE Champion but had to be written out due to a legitimate shoulder injury, so they had Seth Rollins powerbomb Austin Theory through Lashley’s pod, writing Lashley out of the match by stating that the Dominator had suffered a concussion.
Brock Lesnar then burst out of his pod to take the spot and would go on to win the match. The new WWE Champion, Lesnar went into WrestleMania to renew his long-time rivalry with Universal Champion Roman Reigns, who beat the Beast Incarnate again to unify the titles and become WWE’s Undisputed Champion.
As for Belair, she had a much more triumphant night, stealing the show of Night One with a feel-good win over Becky Lynch to become the Raw Women’s Champion and establish herself as a living WrestleMania icon, vanquishing a horrible booking decision at SummerSlam to have the EST lose to Becky in seconds.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2023
For a second straight year, the WWE Elimination Chamber PLE took place outside the United States, as WW Elimination Chamber 2023 emanated from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada for Sami Zayn’s highly-anticipated clash with Roman Reigns.
Asuka would produce another signature performance in her WWE career with a Women’s Elimination Chamber victory to earn a Raw Women’s Title shot against Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 39. Belair would win that match to keep her highly impressive WrestleMania winning streak going.
Over in the Men’s Division, the WWE Undisputed Championship remained in Roman’s hands and would only be competed by Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes, so the United States Championship was on the line inside the Chamber instead.
And Theory would win that match, escaping with his title intact, though the real star of the night was Montez Ford, who received the second-best response from the Montreal crowd that night after only hometown hero Sami Zayn.
Theory would beat John Cena at WrestleMania 39 to keep his title in the Night One opener, getting one over on the WWE legend who had ruthlessly buried him in a promo battle before that matchup.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2024
And finally, WWE Elimination Chamber 2024 was located in an even more exciting venue, as the PLE was an international PLE in Perth, Australia, and the crowd Down Under certainly didn’t disappoint,
Becky Lynch added another big achievement to her career resume with her first ever Women’s Elimination Chamber victory, spoiling a heroic effort from breakout star Liv Morgan to earn a Women’s World Championship match at WrestleMania 40.
In the Men’s Division, Drew McIntyre eliminated LA Knight, Bobby Lashley, and Randy Orton to rekindle his pandemic-era rivalry with the Viper, and this victory earned McIntyre a World Heavyweight Title match at the Show of Shows.
Rhea Ripley, who successfully defeated Nia Jax in a fiery all-Australia-born main event, would end up defeating Becky in a show-stealing WrestleMania 40 matchup.
McIntyre, meanwhile, was a successful Elimination Chamber winner, as he defeated Seth Rollins to kick off Night Two and become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
